When I was seven, my family moved to France. I lived in Paris until I was 20, and had finished my Fine Arts studies. I continued my studies becoming an architect in the United States.
Ever since, I design urban furniture and interior design. I have developed very different things like a floating house in Dubai, silver collections, a new restaurant concept, airport counters, and all kinds of product designs and architecture, which you can have a look at under www.daifukidesigns.com.
I became a designer because?
I studied architecture, and despite working quite a bit with architecture on a professional level, I like to design everything, from the wrap in a house to the pencil you use to draw.
My light bulb lights up when?
I have free time, a small space in a very stressful professional life. Quite often, these moments are found in waiting rooms, in a plane or a train?
The feature I long in a lamp is?
There are different features for each concept. A lamp can be very beautiful, because the simplicity of its design is more focused on the way it gives light, or it can be a very present moment, quite sculptural.
I like this stage?
I like starting up a new project. I can?t think of a phase, because starting up the project is the most creative part itself. To me, creativity shows up in an absolute mental silence.
My proposals provide the houses and spaces in which they are located?
As an architect, I have to correct this. Half of the issue is not the lamp itself, but using it properly. When they are well-used, I expect my proposals to yield positive energy, such as tranquillity, well-being, harmony, or clarity.
The names I give my creations come from?
Trying to relate the name with the piece?s shape: for example, I named a lamp Snaik (from snake) because of its flexible shaft, or Litecube to an outdoors lamp that has the shape of an ice cube?
These special moments need a well-chosen lamp?
Actually, all of our moments should be special because life is really short. It is equally important to have an adequate lighting to appreciate the features of the ones we love, to read, cook, or watch TV. Furthermore, the first impression you have when you enter a place and you turn on the light should be special.
When a lamp has become old?
Oh, God! They NEVER turn old! I can see the neighbour?s flat from my office, and he bought a design piece I made almost 20 years ago. In the meantime, he has had a child, has divorced, and changed flats. His ex sold the flat to another couple, but the lamp is still there, still working.
CANDEL (Sobremesa): I wanted to design a product that was an icon of the classic table lamp, but 100% transparent. It must be one of the only lamps you can wash in a dishwasher.
FLEXIA (Colgantes): The Flexia variety offers different shapes and powers. In all of its versions, its light can be indirectly oriented towards the ceiling or downwards.

HOTEL-PYTHON (Apliques): it was conceived to be placed on both sides of a hotel bed headboard. The base has two switches, one controlling the main light, and the other one is a LED with a lens to be able to read without disturbing your couple.
KEOPS (Apliques): Created in triplex opaline glass, it is perfect for spaces that need a wall lamp that hardly projects from the wall. It works with low-consumption bulbs.

KIWI (Apliques): Kiwi was created thinking of a discrete and elegant shape that can harmonise with just about any space.

LITE BOX (Exterior): They were both conceived both as lighting objects, and as furniture. Litecube resembles an ice cube, while Litebox is more like a giant pillow. They can both be used as low-consumption lamps, and are available both in white, and coloured.

MONDRIAN (Apliques): The idea was to create a product with architectonic shape that highlights the best of art in itself.
MORGAN (Apliques): The Morgan line is clearly inspired in automobiles, particularly the exhaust pipe of a luxury car. They are small and seem semi-built-in, but they are surface lamps, and do not burn upon contact.

POPPY (Sobremesa): I wanted to design a lamp that was an icon of the ?classic? candle, but with the difference that this one lasts 40 hours, does not create smoke, and has no wax dropping. It?s ideal for intimate dinners, both at home or in a restaurant

PYTHON (Apliques): An integrated shape with a great LED lighting capacity. It is ideal for the bed, or to light a specific object, especially for hotels.

SQUARE (Apliques): I wanted to create a piece that was nothing but light. The whole body is translucent, and it yields light both on the front, and on its four sides.

VIPER (Apliques): The idea was to create an integrated shape: a cone that becomes thinner, turns into a tube, and then becomes a cone in the lamp?s head. It has very different applications

VIPS (Plafones): The VIP line fits in just about anywhere because of its reduced size and its simplicity, since it is a festoon lamp. A transparent polycarbonate reflector with a metallic mesh gives it a technical touch.
