I am an industrial designer, architect, and interior designer but I also teach, cooperate with several international companies and different professional associations. Besides, I am also active in the multiple fields of industrial and graphic design, in developing ephemeral architecture, in interior design, in conceptually developing image, and indeveloping applied design strategies, from Barcelona and Mexico.
I became a designer because?
When I was 14 I loved architecture, but there were too many architects. That?s when I discovered industrial design, quite a newborn thing in Spain with very few professionals, and even fewer that could make a living out of it. But it was always clear to me because I conceived it as a very creative alternative profession, and I took the chance. I currently believe that we are the artisans of the 21st century.
My light bulb turns on when?
I am in front of my pencil and paper. As a creative person, I always sense things that never really develop until I sit down and work on them. You have to like it, because you spend many hours doing rough drafts.
The feature I look for in a lamp is?
A house is full of objects to go with it, and a lamp has to be like a tree in the forest, nothing strident. It needs to be capable on staying in your life silently, constantly surprising you with the way it works.
I love this stage when I start a new project
All of them! When the idea pops up, you become emotional. When you develop it, you fight to solve the problems that sow up. It?s fabulous when you introduce it to a client who buys it. And when you?re finally constructing it, you face loads of problems once again, but you solve them.
When you introduce it to the public, it?s even greater. And when you go to someone?s house, and you see it, you tell yourself: ?it?s mine! This is great, it?s a part of people?s lives!?
My creations provide the houses and spaces they are in with?
I just do what I think would fit best in my house. I like to contribute so people enjoy living in their houses more, with more quality of life. I always imagine them with my lamps, completely relaxed.
My products? names come from?
Well, sometimes they come with the product itself, sometimes they rise from a conversation with a client, sometimes from a program you saw one day on TV? The dumbest name I can think about is Coca Cola, and look how powerful it is!
These special moments need a well-chosen lamp.
The table, the hall, the bathroom? they all provide very special moments. The lamp has to give us the light, and create an atmosphere, but with no intention of being the centre of attention.
When a lamp has become old?
It?s cool, because it means it?s still ticking! I like to fix lamps: change the shade, do tests on them?
From all of your creations, which one would you give your mother-in-law?
I already did, it was a Galilea for her living room in Mexico. In fact, she still has it!
BASIC (Apliques): The most basic, plain and simple piece, for those who just want light, but not a lamp.

BOXSTER (Apliques): A complex technical resolution for a good star lighting solution.

FINGER (Colgantes): Times change, and versatile spaces need a lamp that can always be in the middle. Finger is a dynamic lamp with a very creative movement system.
FUNI (Colgantes): I always conceived dining room lamps as invisible, as something that should be able to me moved up or down depending on the need, and deserves a spot because of its simplicity.
GALILEA (Sobremesa): Ah, my most famous lamp, a true best-seller. I actually did that lamp for myself, wanting to place it between two wingback armchairs. I drew it, and Galilea came out on the second try.

HAMILTON (Apliques): Because not everything in lighting is round, here is a discrete and functional idea.
HAMILTON (Plafones): Because not everything in lighting is round, here is a discrete and functional idea.
PASCUALINA (Apliques): I've been thinking about this since I was a child: simple, with a spring, and a clip to hold a little lamp to a shelf. Pascualina is almost like a light bulb with a mini-shade, an element of its own, although you can place as many as you like.
RITA (Apliques): A circle of light with personality, a light spot.

TOP (Plafones): Have a look at it, and discover the charm in this simple ceiling piece.
